The sounds of Future Funk

It seems like I go through phases of listening to genres most people only uncover if it seeps into the mainstream. Dubstep before Deadmau5 was a household name. Chiptunes since…my NES? I wonder how many metal heads grew up listening to Mega Man? Eurobeat (which no one I know listens to). And now it’s Vaporwave, more specifically the Future Funk genre.

My SoundCloud Stream is full of obscure music that’s slowed down, sped up, set to disco beats, has Japanese lyrics I don’t understand, and can range from anime J-Pop to Gansta rap any minute.

Artists like Desired, Macross 82-99, Yung Bae, Saint Pepsi and VANTAGE // (and a ton more) make the soundtrack to when I’ve got my head down in work or on a road trip to Fernie.
